Visit us! Visit the animals in the nature center and enjoy lots of learning activities. Check out the playground and paved trail near the nature center. Walk to the raptor mews and Lake Hashawha to see local wildlife. Follow the bluebird boxes and see if you can spot one! Or hit the trail system to enjoy the streams, woods, fields, hills, and the beauty of the area. And don’t forget to look for the Martin Cabin!

Hashawha Environmental Center and Bear Branch Nature Center address and directions:

300 John Owings Rd. Westminster, MD 21158

From Westminster, MD: Take Rt. 140 West to Rt. 97 North Travel N on route 97 for 3 miles Turn right on John Owings Rd. (Look for signs at intersection) Travel 1.5 miles to Hashawha Rd. Turn left on Hashawha Rd. Bear Branch Nature Center- located on the right. (Look for sign at bottom of driveway) Hashawha Environmental Center and Residential Camping Facility - Continue straight through brown metal gate.
**Access to residential area is restricted to user groups only**

The above maps encompass the sanctioned trails in the Hashawha Environmental Center and the Union Mills Equestrian Trails. They are open year round with the exception of safety restrictions in place during hunting season. All trail maps are provided by Trailforks.
